HBO is back.
Let’s be honest, many of us in the Department of HBO Original Series Superfan Land are still mourning the premature death of “Deadwood” and the inevitable end of the masterpiece that was “The Wire.”
And HBO hasn’t given us much non-military meaty fare lately with the exception of the polygamists of “Big Love.” (Come back, “In Treatment”!)
But today we celebrate.
Many faces from “The Wire” are back in business with roles in two new HBO original series debuts.
“Treme,” which starts April 11, is set in a three-months-post-Katrina New Orleans community of musicians. It comes from the creators of the “The Wire.” Plus: Steve Zahn! John Goodman!
“Boardwalk Empire”: Terence Winter, writer of “The Sopranos,” and Martin Scorsese have teamed up to create a violent-looking drama set in Atlantic City at the “dawn of Prohibition.”
Steve Buscemi, who plays gangster Nucky Johnson, looks right at home in 1920.
Bonuses: Gangsters! Show girls! Hats! Booze! Guns!
Bummer: It’s not coming out until fall.
