Meerkerk Gardens: Children can make their own fairy houses with natural materials from the surrounding gardens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 7 at the Whidbey Island gardens. Bring a base to transport the creation if you want to take it home. Otherwise the houses will be placed in the woods and gardens to attract woodland critters. Admission for this event is $5. Snohomish Garden Tour: noon to 5 p.m. July 29. Urban and suburban gardens in and around Snohomish. Tickets are $12 and available in advance or on the day of the tour at Annie’s on First; Curly Willow; Joyworks; Kusler’s Pharmacy; McAuliffe’s Valley Nursery, McDaniel’s Do It Center, Machias Nursery; Molback’s; My Garden Nursery; and Sunnyside Nursery.Tickets also available on the website, www.snohomishgardenclub.com. Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the tour at the Snohomish Library, Fourth Street and Maple, starting at 10:30 a.m. Children under 13 may take the tour free with a wristband obtained at the library. Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens 2012 lectures: Noon to 1 p.m. select Saturdays, at the arboretum, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett, either in the indoor classroom or, when appropriate, outside on the arboretum grounds. Sept. 15: “Fall and Winter Containers” with arboretum volunteer Dee Drake.

Oct. 20: “Putting Your Garden to Bed” with master gardener Frankie Dennison.

Nov. 10: “Holiday Centerpieces from Your Backyard” with Bob Adrian, owner of Flowers by Adrian of Everett.

Dec. 8: “Winter Blooming Plants” with Trevor Cameron of Sunnyside Nursery, Marysville.

Got a gardening question? Consult a local master gardener at a public plant clinic. If you have a plant with a problem or disease, bring in a fresh plant sample that, if possible, includes the diseased area, a transition area and a healthy area. Photos are also helpful.
