Gifts &Greens Galore: 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10, Graham Visitors Center at the Washington Park Arboretum, 2300 Arboretum Drive E., Seattle; free. This holiday sale and fundraiser features holiday wreaths, swags and fresh-cut greens. It’s also a showcase for the Arboretum Shop’s selection of gardening and nature books, plant-themed jewelry, tools and more. There will be live seasonal harp music on Dec. 9, craft activities for kids on Dec. 10 and, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 10, , a round, jolly man with a big white beard and a bag of treats. Snohomish Historical Society 2011 Parlor Tour: Noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 11; $15, $12 for seniors and society members. Tour eight historic Snohomish homes decorated for the holidays, in addition to the Blackman House Museum, 118 Ave. B, and the former Christian Scientist Church, now home to the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater at 1211 Fourth St., both in Snohomish. The Northwest Flower &Garden Show: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 8 to 11 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 12, Washington State Convention &Trade Center, 800 Convention Place, downtown Seattle; $16 through Feb. 6, $20 at the door. See large display gardens by local designers and landscapers, plus celebrity speakers, educational seminars, floral displays, retail booths and activities for kids. Sustainable gardening lecture series: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every other Friday, Jan. 6 through April 13, Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, 4515 84th St. SW, Mukilteo. Tickets to the full eight-lecture series are $85 in advance. If there are any unsold seats, a limited number of single-lecture tickets may be available for $20 at the door. Feb. 17: “Foliage First! A Plant’s Finest Attribute” with Dan Hinkley, plant collector and design expert.

March 2: “Gardens through Geography and Time” with Jane Billinghurst, world-traveling gardener and author.

March 16: “Adding the Spring Layer to Your Garden” with Bob Lilly, a Wells Medina Nursery veteran and co-author of “Perennials: A Gardeners Reference.”

March 30: “Travels of a Young Gardener” with Riz Reyes, Seattle P-I.com blogger and owner of RHR Horticulture and Landwave Gardens.

April 13: “Designing the Landscape with Low Maintenance in Mind” with Polly Hankin, landscape architect.

Got a gardening question? Call or visit the local master gardeners at the WSU Snohomish County Extension, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. In-person and phone consulting hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April through September and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. October through March. If you have a plant with a problem or disease, bring in a fresh sample that includes the diseased area, a transition area and a healthy area. Photos are also helpful. Call 425-357-6010.
