Pruning fruit trees: The Snohomish County Fruit Society is hosting a presentation on “Pruning Your Fruit Tree” on Nov. 14 at the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club, 402 Second St., Snohomish. Ingela Wanerstrand, owner of Green Darner Garden Design in Seattle, will give tips on pruning fruit trees at the society’s 7 p.m. meeting. Wanerstrand has 25 years of experience pruning fruit trees and teaches fruit growing classes at Edmonds Community College. More at snohomishcfs.wordpress.com.

Plants for winter pizzazz: How do you create winter interest in your garden when all the leaves have fallen and the branches are bare? Find out how at in class from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 16 taught by Trevor Cameron, general manager at Sunnyside Nursery. Holiday Home Tour: Tour north Everett homes decorated for the holidays from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 2. Hosted by the Assistance League of Everett. Snohomish Christmas Parlour Tour: Tour historic Snohomish homes decorated for the holidays from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. Hosted by the Snohomish Historical Society. Tickets are $12-$15. Become a master: Applications for master gardener training classes in 2020 are now available. Learn to research, teach and mentor community gardeners and become an environmental steward. All training is open book and no memorization is expected. Training involves about 80 hours of classroom and workshop instruction held once a week on Thursdays, Jan. 9 through March 26. Tuition is $295, plus a volunteer commitment of 40 hours each year for two years on a variety of horticultural and environmental educational projects.
