Climbing Clematis: Learn to bring the amazing beauty and variety of clematis to your garden with ease. The Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens is hosting a “Clematis: Queen of the Climbers” class at 6 p.m. June 9 via Zoom. A Zoom link to the class will be emailed with registration. Laura Watson, a member of the Governing Council of the International Clematis Society, will showcase the splendor of clematis and their amazing variety in color, shape, bloom time and growth habit. Get tips on caring for clematis, information about simplified pruning and recommendations for easy clematis to try. Go to www.evergreenarboretum.com to register for free.

Sorticulture: The Garden Arts Festival (sorta art, sorta horticulture) is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 12 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13 on Wetmore Avenue between Everett and Hewitt avenues. Free. Go to visiteverett.com/sorticulture for more information.

Evergreen Arboretum: The Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens is hosting a plant sale 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 19 and noon to 4 p.m. June 20 at American Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett. Bonus day: Plants are half price from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 21. Go to www.evergreenarboretum.com for more information.

Septic sense: The Snohomish Conservation District is hosting a “Septic Sense” webinar from 6 to 8 p.m. July 2 via Zoom. Teri King, the leading Septic Specialist for Washington SeaGrant, offers many years of experience hosting septic workshops throughout the Puget Sound. Her webinar will teach you about different types of systems and how they function, funding sources for repairs and more. A Zoom link will be emailed to you with registration. Pruning 101: The Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens is hosting a “Summer Pruning” class at 6 p.m. July 14 via Zoom. A Zoom link to the class will be emailed with registration. Trevor Cameron, general manager of Sunnyside Nursery, will go over basic rules of pruning, concentrating on spring-blooming shrubs (like rhododendrons and azaleas) and thinning of trees for summer health and lasting beauty. Tour the arboretum: Still playing it safe? You can tour the Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens virtually. Go to www.evergreenarboretum.com and click on the Virtual Tour tab. View dozens of photos of the sculpture garden, rock garden, Japanese maple grove, conifer garden, small urban tree walk and more. Or tour the gardens by appointment.
