Friday is here and it’s time to plan your weekend fun. If you need some suggestions, we’re happy to help. Here are some highlights of what’s going on this weekend.

Celebrate Earth Day: If you want to do something in the spirit of Earth Day, you have plenty of choices this weeke

nd. Options include a beach cleanup and low-tide walk in Edmonds and an Earth Day fest at the Sno-Isle Co-op. We have a story about those and several other options here.

Tiptoe through the tulips: If you’d like to get outside, why not head up to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, going on through April 30 in rural Mount Vernon and La Conner.

Special events this weekend include the Chili, Chowdah & Chocolate Cookoff from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Creekside Retirement Community, 400 Gilkey Road, Burlington, and the Kiwanis Salmon Barbecue from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Hillcrest Lodge, 1717 S. 13th St., Mount Vernon. Hunt for Easter eggs: Enjoy the Easter weekend with an egg hunt. There are many, many options around the county. Find one that works for you by checking our story here.

Hear live music: 425 Fest aims to bring the best of Snohomish County’s rock, hip hop and jazz to the same stage Saturday in Everett. You can read more about the event in our story here.

Learn about green energy and conservation: The Snohomish County PUD offers events on Friday to show how to use energy more responsibly and save money. The event is free and will feature a light bulb exchange, turn in your incandescent bulbs for free CFL lights; a plant sale featuring flowers and plants grown locally by high school students; energy-related games; and information about green energy sources. The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Snohomish County PUD, 2320 California St. in Everett.
