Help the Sound: If you’d like to do something to help the environment, but feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenge, this weekend’s event might be for you. “Sound Living: Exploring the Connections Between Water, Land and People,” is Saturday at Everett Community College. The educational event will feature more than 40 local experts who will speak on topics such as salmon, sea birds, harbor seals, endangered whales, fisheries restoration, algae blooms and contaminants in Snohomish County waters. Shop for books: Book sale: The Friends of the Arlington Library offer an all-new book sale from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. It’s planned at the Stillaguamish Valley Genealogy Library, 135 S. Olympic Ave., in downtown Arlington. The books were donated by the owner of a bookstore that recently went out of business.
Take a trip: If you like wine, Walla Walla may be the place for you this weekend. Take a road trip and enjoy Fall Release Weekend from Friday to Sunday. More than 70 wineries in the valley are opening their doors and offering their newest vintages for tasting. It’s a combination of crisp wine and crisp fall weather for a weekend trip.
