“A Little Bit Longer”
Jonas Brothers
WHY CARE?: You need to ask? Just pull aside some tweens. They’ll scream an enraptured explanation into your ear.
TRIVIA: The three brothers were touring in a van two years ago. Now, according to Rolling Stone, they fly in a chartered Gulfstream G4 that has cameras mounted on its wings, letting passengers look at the outside of the jet in midflight.
HIGH POINTS: The midtempo “Shelf” builds to a chorus of la-la-las, sounding tailor-made for a concert sing-along, and the cutesy track “Lovebug” starts as a catchy throwaway but builds to a guitar-soloing climax and talk of pizza.
FANS ALSO LIKE: Miley Cyrus, Disney rock and just, like, totally dreamy boys.
ANDY SAYS: Jonas Brothers’ ecstatic fan base is out of proportion to the group’s talent, but then, so was the Beatles’. OK, so these guys aren’t the Beatles. Their third album, available Tuesday, is a ceaselessly sun-blasted collection. While it feels like it was constructed in a pop rock laboratory, at least the chemists behind these songs know when to mix in an explosive riff.
GRADE: B-minus
