After all those months of Santa watching you, here’s your chance to watch him.
The NORAD Santa tracker shows his real-time route around the globe starting Dec. 24.
The site www.noradsanta.org pinpoints Santa’s travels with multi-cultural fanfare in eight languages and shows the sleigh coming to a home near you. Leading up to Christmas, the site has a countdown with lots of Santa action with games, music and movies.
Santa tracking at NORAD, the Colorado-based North American Aerospace Defense Command center that monitors the skies for threats, started back in 1955 by mistake. The local newspaper put the wrong number in a Sears-Roebuck ad and it rang into the defense command’s operations center. Instead of saying “wrong number,” the colonel picking up the phone said “I’ll check the radars.” The rest is history.
Google has a similar app: santatracker.google.com. Both apps are free. Beware: there are copycat apps trying to cash in that charge a fee.
