City of Lynnwood: The city of Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department offers classes for youth and families. Discounts are offered to residents of Lynnwood. For information and registration, call the Lynnwood Recreation Center, 425-771-4030 for specifics on each class: Teen Tuesdays; Night Waves; Kids Klub I &II, for ages 3 to 5 to prepare for school; Aviator Adventure Club; Tot Art; Music 4 Preschool; Music Explorers; Creative Ballet; Clay Creations; Art Sparks; fine art drawing; Art Masters; ballet; jazz; hip-hop; baton; floor gymnastics; and guitar.

Everett Public Library: All children’s events are free and held at the library locations, unless otherwise marked. Some classes require registration. Main branch, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett; Evergreen branch, 9512 Evergreen Way, Everett; 425-257-8030. n Play group for parents and children, a drop-in play group, 10 a.m. to noon Fridays, Evergreen. n Teen Advisory Board, kids in middle school and high school are invited to join and help plan special programs at the library, 7 p.m. Sept. 22 first meeting, main branch.

All children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. n Baby Bee story time, ages 6 to 24 months, 9:30 a.m. Thursdays through Oct. 14. n Toddler story time, ages 24 to 36 months, 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 12, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 13. n Preschool story time, ages 3 to 5 years, 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 12, 10:30 a.m. Saturdays through Oct. 16.

Woodland Park Zoo: 5500 Phinney Ave., Seattle; 206-684-4800, www.zoo.org. 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. $10, $7 ages 3 to 12. n “Butterflies &Blooms” featuring nearly 1,000 butterflies, representing 35 to 50 North American species, flowering plants and an outdoor conservation garden, through Sept. 30, $2 in addition to zoo admission. n “Masters of the Web,” featuring a variety of exotic and local spiders, educational information, interactive experiences, through Oct. 31. n Eye-to-Eye tours available through Oct., $55.
