A revival of Noel Coward’s comedy “Blithe Spirit” opens Friday night at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.
The blithe spirit is fuss-budget writer Charles Condomine’s dead wife who comes back to haunt and taunt him now that he’s remarried.
A medium, Madame Arcati, conjures up the ghostly ex, Elvira, who sets things in motion, and somehow Charles’ current wife winds up dead, too.
But it’s all in fun. Ghost Wife No. 1 brings Ghost Wife No. 2 over to her side and both proceed to hassle poor grumpy Charles forevermore.
“Blithe Spirit” has played on London and Broadway stages since 1941 and revived a number of times. It was made into a movie in 1945 starring Rex Harrison.
“Blithe Spirit” continues through Oct. 26 with performances at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and a 2 p.m matinee on Sundays.
Tickets are $15 to $22 and may be purchased online at www.wicaonline.com or at the box office 24 hours before a show. Call 800-638-7631 for more information.
The Whidbey Center for the Arts is at 565 Camano Ave., Langley.

The Skagit Opera opens the season Friday night with Giuseppe Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” based on a play by Victor Hugo.
“Rigoletto” is a tragedy, much like Hugo’s “Les Miserables,” another father trying to save his daughter.
Rigoletto is a hunch-backed court jester whose beautiful daughter, Gilda, is being seduced by a licentious duke.
Problem is, Gilda falls in love with the duke and tries to save him from the henchmen her father hires. Tragedy ensues.
“Rigoletto” continues through Oct. 20 at McIntyre Hall, 2501 E. College Way, Mount Vernon.
Tickets are $15 to $59 and may be purchased at the McIntyre Hall box office, or by calling 360-416-7727, and online at www.mcintyrehall.org.
