The Pilchuck Audubon Society’s July meeting is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st NW, Stanwood. (A new location for this month only.)
CK Eidem, who administers Ducks Unlimited’s conservation program in Western Washington, will speak about the future of Lecque Island. The island is just west of the Stanwood/Camano Island Bridge. The dikes are failing and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has settled on a restoration plan to benefit fish and wildlife while still accommodating wildlife viewing.
Eidem will talk about what the plans are, the timeline, and how to get involved in Pilchuck Audubon’s plan to survey Lecque Island’s birds, both before and after the restoration.
