Mel Walters is on the look-out for birds. As an environmental biologist he has worked for more than 40 years to keep birds safe from our urban environment rife with structures and power lines.
He now manages Puget Sound Energy’s Avian Protection responding to avian power line incidents and looking for ways to prevent electrocutions and collisions.
Walters will give a talk at the Pilchuck Audubon Society’s monthly meeting Friday on all kinds of wildlife protection and wetland mitigation, endangered species, osprey habitat, erosion control and avian protection.
The meeting, free and open to the public, goes from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Everett Firefighters Hall, 2411 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
