“Frost/Nixon”: Where did it all go wrong?
The answers might never become crystal-clear, but we can watch as Richard Nixon and David Frost re-capture a poignant moment in time.
This is the encounter between once supreme and now laughingstock British talk-show host Frost and the former president, a man who resigned his position in disgrace over the Watergate scandal.
This moment in time was a calculated and risky attempt by Frost to increase his ratings. He bet on a series of in-depth interviews with Nixon, trying to extract an apology from the cagey former president.
Nixon, however, still was bent on redeeming himself to the nation. As the cameras rolled, Nixon intended to outfox Frost, but instead the two men engaged in a cat-and-mouse game of wits.
As the men battled for television dominance, each trying to outwit the other, the end result is an interview that sealed a president’s legacy, according to press material.
“Frost/Nixon” opens at 7:30 tonight with shows at 2 p.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through June 23 at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camano Ave., Langley.

“One Slight Hitch”: OK. Lewis Black is not in this show, let’s just get that straight.
But he wrote it so it’s bound to be funny.
Black is a Comedy Central regular and an irreverent commentator on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” a stand-up comedian and — maybe you don’t know this — a playwright as well.
This play, a Northwest premiere, promises to have the kind of wacky physical comedy one might expect from Black. Set in suburban Cincinnati in 1981, the play introduces Doc and Delia Coleman, who have planned a beautiful wedding for their daughter — just like the one they never had.
All is good until her ex shows up. Then there is door-slamming, yelling and the basic deconstruction of a family’s happy balance.
“Lewis Black has been under the radar in theater circles since his days at Yale Drama, but we’re thrilled to show off his play with a great Seattle cast,” artistic director Kurt Beattie said in a prepared statement.
The show stars Kimberley Sustad, from Fox’s new drama “Alcatraz,” and Seattle favorites R. Hamilton Wright and Marianne Owen as Doc and Delia.
“One Slight Hitch” begins with previews at 7:30 tonight and runs at various times through July 8 at ACT Theatre, 700 Union St., Seattle.
