You find music in the strangest places in Seattle. It’s like a treasure chest for good tunes. Having said that, I shouldn’t have put up a fight when my good friend Katelyn Price (who took the photo above) insisted I attend a show she was hosting in her backyard featuring an artist by the name of Ashley Brown. “No, I’m not going to make it tonight” I said. To which Katelyn replied “you really need to come.” Wow was I happy I caved.
I arrived a little late and wasn’t sure which house I was looking for, until I heard this voice that sounded so clear and perfect it couldn’t be live. I walked up the drive way and rounded the corner of house to find 15 or so people sitting in the grass fixed on Ashley Brown who sat against the house on a stack of suitcases with nothing but her guitar. I took my seat and enjoyed an amazing reworking of “Just A Girl” and several of her own songs.
There is so much to say about Ashley’s voice and the quality of her song writing that I don’t really know where to start. Take a look at the video below and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
