Younger readers take note: A local author and a nationally known writer will both be in the area next weekend with two very different books.

Everett author Carole Estby Dagg’s “The Year We Were Famous” is a real-life tale drawn from the incredible journey made by her great-grandmother and a great-aunt, who walked from Spokane to New York in 232 days to win a wager of $10,000 during the early days of the women’s suffrage movement.

Dagg will talk about the book and also about writing and the publishing process from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.

You can read more about this unbelievable adventure and about the author at her website, www.caroleestbydagg.com. The book lists at $16.99 and copies will be for sale at the library.

Then at 2 p.m. Sunday, an author more widely known as a mystery writer, Ridley Pearson, will bring the fourth installment of his Kingdom Keepers series, “Power Play,” to the Lynnwood Barnes & Noble store.

Sinister events are threatening the group of five teens who are Disney Hologram Image hosts in this otherwordly adventure for youngsters.

Pearson, who is co-author of the Starcatchers series with humorist Dave Barry, will sign copies of his books following the discussion.

The books list at $17.99 but may be purchased at a discount online at www.barnesandnoble.com. They also are available as Nookbooks.

Barnes & Noble is at 19401 Alderwood Parkway, Lynnwood. Call 425-771-2220 for more information about Sunday’s event.
