This morning, thanks to the Pottery Barn catalog, of all things, I had a wonderful revelation: Metal water bottles are officially set to take over plastics in the reusable bottle revolution — and in a very cool way.
Like many Northwest residents, I’ve always been more of a Nalgene girl.
But then, earlier this year, I heard about the dangers of bisphenol A, a chemical and endocrine disruptor that could potentially leach out of many types of plastics, including reusable baby bottles and sports bottles, including polycarbonates such as Nalgene.
Aluminum, though extremely resource intensive to create, is a nice way to get a break from possibly-leaching plastic water bottles.
Retailers, thank goodness, are coming up with some totally cool styles, which is great.
Eco Geek must be chic, after all.
Pottery Barn, you’ll find, offers a lovely little set of reusable stuff right here.
But if it’s style and selection you want, check out the beautiful variety of bottles from SIGG, which offers Swiss-engineered water bottles, including many with a “ground-breaking interior lining” that is 100 percent effective against leaching and combats residue build-up so that that all you taste is the water, juice or energy drink that you just poured in the bottle, “even after its been sitting in the sun.”
Their “lifestyle” line designs are worthy of a Capitol Hill hipster, complete with edgy camo and skull-accented designs as well as modern floral motifs in lovely colors.
Right now, I already have metal flask from Brunton, but it’s just a plain blue one and I need more water vessels for daily living anyway.
I might just stock my fridge at home with a bevy of these aluminum beauties.
SIGG’s motto is SIGGnificantly Better Bottles.
Indeed.
