Burke Museum and Seattle Theatre Group present a screening of “In the Land of the Head Hunters,” a 1914 landmark Edward Curtis silent film.
A live orchestra will play the original score alongside the movie.
After the film, Kwakwa-ka’wakw (Kwakiutl) dancers, all descendants of the original “Head Hunters” cast, will perform a traditional dance.
This epic story of forbidden love and war was the first feature-length film to cast native North American actors. The film had a gala opening at the historic Moore Theatre in Seattle in December 1914 and is part of “The Moore 100” centennial year.
The screening is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle. Tickets are $13 to $18 at www.themoore.com.
