On Monday, the Edmonds Mural Society announced the completion of the first of two murals for 2011. The theme for the 2011 murals is “Hidden Treasures of Edmonds.”
On July 10, Edmonds artist Sue Coccia completed her flora and fauna filled heron on the wall behind Housewares, 318 Main St, Edmo
nds. Coccia spent two weeks at the Edmonds marsh, collecting material for her mural and her research can be found inside the heron’s body.
On July 17, Edmonds artist Andy Eccleshall completed “The Brothers,” a mural inspired by the view of the Olympic range of mountains from Edmonds. His mural is on the east-facing wall of 410 Main St.
A total of five murals are planned for this summer. The next will begin around July 27 when Edmonds artist Joel Patience begins work on the west-facing wall at 401 Main St. and will feature a sunset scene with the schooner Adventuress in full sail.
