Seattle Symphony: New Year’s Eve Concert, Countdown and Celebration; 9 p.m. Dec. 31, Benaroya Hall, Seattle. Information and tickets at www.seattlesymphony.org or 206-215-4747. Matthew Halls conducts Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Rena Harms, soprano; Deborah Nansteel, mezzo-soprano; Eric Neuville, tenor; Morgan Smith, baritone; and the Seattle Symphony Chorale. The evening opens with Mozart’s Symphony No. 31 “Paris” and closes with a post concert live band, dancing and countdown to midnight. The orchestra has received six Grammy award nominations.

The Stanwood-born musician is back in the Northwest after moving to Nashville in 2013. She’s opened for the likes of Kenny Chesney and Darius Rucker, and brings her dramatic live show to Seattle. Born in South Korea and educated at Juilliard in New York City, the members of the trio — cellist Maria, pianist Lucia and violinist Angella — are redefining the art of chamber music.
Martha Redbone Roots Project: 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. Tickets are $29, $24 or $19, and $15 for youth/students. The indie-soul diva is an Independent Music Award-winning musician of Cherokee, Choctaw, Shawnee and African-American descent. She has established a solid history of performing, educating and mentoring musicians across North America.
Willamette University Chamber Choir and Willamette Singers: 7 p.m. Jan. 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6215 196 St. SW, Lynwood. Choirs from Bothell and Mountainview high schools also will perform in the classical portion of the concert. The concert will open with a vocal jazz performance by the Willamette Singers, followed by the high school groups and the Willamette Chamber Choir. The concert is free and open to the public, although a goodwill donation is encouraged.
