I keep hearing these sad stories about bands being robbed of all their instruments and gear. As if musicians don’t have it hard enough trying to make a living in this crazy industry, every now and then some soulless lower being decides to come along and take what isn’t theirs so they can make a few bucks at the pawn shop. Meanwhile, they are hitting the reset button on the artist they just abused.
It’s a really terrible situation and a lot of bands (especially on tour) probably have no choice other than to drop the cash on new instruments or run up their already well-used credit cards.
Last week things really hit home when Seattle’s Kris Orlowski and his band had their equipment stolen. This couldn’t happen to a nicer group of guys.
The good news is Kris has a lot of really amazing friends in this wonderful music community we get to enjoy around these parts and they aren’t going to stand for one of their own being taken advantage of.
On April 29 at the Tractor Tavern is the We Were Robbed fundraiser show featuring performances by Allen Stone, John Roderick, Meagan from Lemolo, wayfarer, Shelby Earl, Jacob James of SHiPS, Daniel Blue of motopony, Ryan of Smokey Brights, Matt &Mike Gervais of Curtains For You. This is all in an attempt to help Kris Orlowski and his band raise some cash to recover from this blow.
Get your tickets here for only $10. Here are some tunes from a few of the people performing:
