Looking for a way to celebrate International Women’s Day? Try listening to some noise.
A special event will feature the documentary “A Powerful Noise” at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at various local theaters.
“A Powerful Noise” has been described as a catalyst for change. It takes viewers into the lives of three women battling poverty: a young widow in Vietnam, a mother in Bosnia and a matriarch in Mali.
The film will be followed by a town hall discussion with experts and celebrity activists simulcast live from New York to more than 450 movie theatres nationwide, including Alderwood 7 Theatres, 3501 184th St. SW, Lynnwood, and seven Seattle area theaters.
Tickets for this event are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com, which also provides a complete list of theaters and prices.
During the live event, movie theaters across the country will turn into community forums as experts and celebrities give their insight into the problems and solutions facing women and girls in the fight against poverty.
Panelists for the evening will include Christy Turlington Burns, a model, filmmaker and advocate for maternal health, and Nicholas Kristof, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist at the New York Times.
