Guests at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Everett will be treated to a five-star patriotic performance on Sunday.
Five Star Brass is the U.S. Navy’s quintet stationed in Bremerton. The quintet performs at military events and public concerts throughout the Northwest, and will make a stop in Everett for this Flag Day-eve concert.
Five Star ordinarily plays a mix of Americana, classical and patriotic favorites, from the Beatles to Brahms. But because this concert will be held in a church setting before Flag Day, the audience can expect to hear a selection of patriotic favorites and marches, along with some classical selections.
The concert should last about an hour with refreshments served afterward.
The five musicians who make up Five Star are Joel Thiesfeldt and Derek Brainard on trumpets, Billy Collins on tuba, Christopher Bourgeois on French horn and Joshua Hamilton on euphonium.
The honor guard of the junior ROTC at Everett High School is also expected to present the colors.
One of the deacons of the church is on a tour of duty in Afghanistan and the church invites other veterans from the community to attend.
The Five Star Brass concert starts at 6 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2531 Hoyt Ave., Everett. The concert is free.
