Playwright Harold Pinter returns, in the form of the “Pinter Fornightly” reading series.
This free annual event at ACT Theatre features a number of Seattle’s best actors, all of whom donate their time and talent on Monday evenings — typically a “dark day” in the theater — to present readings by the late Nobel laureate playwright.
Every other Monday night from March 15 through April 26, audiences can experience in four free play readings of fascinating works performed by carefully chosen casts.
“The Homecoming,” with Sean Griffin, Brian Thompson, Jean Sherrard, John Farrage and Diana Hoyt, will open the series.
“The Homecoming” tells of a hopelessly dysfunctional all-male household thrown into total disarray by the arrival of a prodigal son and his quietly alluring wife.
The series continues March 29 with “The Room” and “The Collection,” on April 12 with “Celebration” and “Victoria Station,” on April 26 with “Mountain Language” and a reading of Pinter’s 2005 Nobel address “Art, Truth and Politics,” featuring ACT’s artistic director Kurt Beattie.
“Pinter Fortnightly” opens at 7 p.m. Monday at ACT’s special events room, Buster’s, 700 Union St., Seattle.
Reservations are recommended. Seating is first-come, first-served. Call 206-292-7676 or go to www.acttheatre.org.
