The Northshore Performing Arts Center, a 607-seat cultural center at 18125 92nd Ave. NE, Bothell, is ready to launch its first full season of programming including music, ballet and Broadway musicals.
More than 25 shows are planned including Shanghai Acrobats, country singing star Crystal Gayle, Grammy winner Rita Coolidge, cowboy poet Baxter Black, and, direct from London, “The Pirates of Penzance.”
Some of the other season highlights are:
* The Yellowjackets, Oct. 8. The quintessential jazz fusion band celebrates 25 years of visionary, improvisational jazz.
* The Duke Ellington Broadway Musical, Oct. 28. This Tony Award-winning tribute to the musical genius of Duke Ellington wowed Broadway when it debuted in 1980.
* Celtic Fiddle Festival, Nov. 5. Kevin Burke (Ireland), Christian Lemaitre (Brittany) and Andr Brunet (Quebec) combine their talents, musical traditions and spontaneous humor.
* “Nutcracker,” Ballet Bellevue accompanied by a 36-piece professional orchestra, Nov. 25.
* Portrait of Patsy Cline, March 2. Nationally acclaimed entertainer, songwriter and recording artist Joni Morris has a vast repertoire, limitless love for Patsy Cline’s music and charming presence.
* Ciompi Quartet, March 11. Founded by the renowned Italian violinist Giorgio Ciompi, the players are known for their intelligence and musical sophistication, and for a warm, unified sound.
* Classic Albums Live: Pink Floyd’s the Dark Side of the Moon, April 1. This is a group of studio musicians and vocalists who perform classic rock albums live using the instrumentation used on the original recording.
