Nuts and bolts: Wallpaper woes?

Strip it: Tangled with wallpaper lately? We’re looking for readers who removed wallpaper recently and can share tips and products that worked well —­ and didn’t — for an upcoming story. Contact Debra Smith at 425-339-3197 or dsmith@­heraldnet.com.

Master course: Love gardening? Washington State University extension is now accepting applications for master gardener training. The 12-week course costs $150. Applications are due by Oct. 31, and space is limited. Call 425-338-2400 for an application or go online to snohomish.wsu.edu/mg/Training/09MG%20Application.pdf.

Thumbs up: The Arlington Garden Club is offering a series of Turn Your Thumb Green workshops starting this fall. All are open to the public. The workshops are $3 each (free for members). They’re held 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of the month at the Arlington Boys &Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, Arlington.

Here’s the schedule:

Sept. 13: Hypertufa, instructor Sheryl Verral will teach how to make garden objects using hypertufa methods.

Oct. 11: Patrick Carey of Hadj Designs will speak on green roofs. Carey trains builders, landscape architects and other professionals on the subject of green roofs.

Nov. 8: Bill Blake, from the city of Arlington, will discuss the city’s storm water tax, plus what homeowners can do for storm water runoff.

Dec. 13: Garden club members will show how to make holiday wreaths.

Jan. 10: Michelle Clark, certified horticulturist and a popular speaker in Pacific Northwest gardening circles, talks about winter gardening and getting a jump on spring.

Feb. 14: Carol and Leroy Jacques will provide pictures and commentary on their trip to gardens in Italy.

March 14: Master gardener Wink Cushman will discuss ornamental grasses for your garden.

April 11: This workshop is usually held in conjunction with Arlington’s Arbor Day. More information will be posted later.

May 9: The Arlington Garden Club hosts neighboring garden clubs. The speaker will be Marianne Binetti. Check with club closer to the event date on the location.
