When it comes to entertaining, often it is the simple touch that stands out more than the grand gestures — the extra effort to personalize place settings or to craft stylish centerpieces.

Up-and-coming lifestyles guru Matthew Mead, who is the style editor for Country Home magazine and has done designs for Target and Pottery Barn, has a knack for such easy elegance.

And now he brings that talent to entertaining. His latest book, “Entertaining Simple,” is a wonderful introduction to low-stress entertaining, jammed with affordable and easy decorating ideas and recipes.
