‘Orange Flower Water’ explicitly bares infidelity

“Orange Flower Water”: This production from one of Seattle’s newest professional theater companies is not for the meek. This show bares all.

The New Century Theatre Company wants to produce fearless, honest and relevant plays. Their second production is a Seattle premiere presented at ACT Theatre in association with the Central Heating Lab.

Craig Wright’s brutally honest drama about marriage and infidelity is a “fiercely adult piece of theater that will speak to a Seattle audience that’s hungry for more mature, thought-provoking work,” New Century co-artistic director Paul Stetler said.

This contemporary play contains sexually intimate scenes and addresses mature themes head on. “Orange Flower Water” explores the painfully intense and, at times, darkly humorous, unraveling of two marriages through a series of scenes set in or around a single bed.

Wright is best known as the Emmy Award-nominated writer for the acclaimed series “Six Feet Under.” His drama “The Pavilion” was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

“Orange Flower Water” opens at 8 p.m. Thursday at ACT’s Bullitt Theater, 700 Union St., Seattle. Shows are at 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 7 p.m. Sundays with a final show at 7 p.m. July 20. Tickets are $25 and $20. Call 206-292-7676 or go to www.acttheatre.org.

“Macbeth”: Shakespeare’s classic tale about obsession, love, ambition, betrayal, murder, madness and the horror of the supernatural are unleashed and prove once again that blood begets blood.

Sound and Fury Productions, in conjunction with Seattle Musical Theater, presents this version of “Macbeth,” which incorporates material from sources ranging from the historical record to the adaptation from Sir William D’avennant, alleged to be Shakespeare’s son.

Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and 5 and 9 p.m. Saturdays through June 27 at Theater 47, Magnuson Park, 7400 Sandpoint Way NE, Seattle. Tickets are $16 and $14. Call 206-363-2809 or go to macbeth.dramatech.net.
