n Still some openings for kids, ages 10-17, for Beach Camp at Sunset Bay, on Norma Beach Road in Edmonds. A watersports day camp with weekly sessions, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, starting June 27, $350 per child. Includes kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, wake boarding and innertubing for any level of experience and ability. Register with Edmonds Parks and Recreation, 425-771-0230, www.reczone.org.

To sign up, call 425-513-9374. All hikes meet and park at United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St., Edmonds. Each hike is limited to 10 hikers.

n 8 a.m. June 23; Heather Lake (Mountain Loop Highway), 4 miles, medium difficulty, 1,000 feet elevation gain.

Pilchuck Audubon Society: Birding trips, pack a lunch if it’s not provided; www.pilchuckaudubon.org.

n Big Four Meadows; meet at 7:30 a.m. June 21 at the Frontier Village park-and-ride, 9600 Market Place, Lake Stevens. Bring something to share for the annual potluck bird trip. Contact trip leader Virginia Clark (360-435-3750) if you want to know what to bring. At the meadows expect swallows, hummingbirds, swifts, warblers, vireos and dippers. A trailhead pass will be needed, but is obtainable en route.

n Mid-Whidbey Island; meet at 7:30 a.m. June 28 at Quilceda Village Walmart lot. Birding will be in the area between Crockett Lake and Swantown on Whidbey Island. Leaders: Virginia Clark 360-435-3750, Art Wait 360-563-0181.

n Stevens Pass area; meet at 7 a.m. July 5 at Monroe park and ride on U.S. 2. Will visit the Old Cascades Highway, Smithbrook Road and maybe the ski slopes. Might see warblers, grouse, sparrows, flycatchers, ravens, nutcrackers, chipmunk and hare. Trip leader: Virginia Clark, 360-435-3750.

n Snohomish and Ebey Island area; meet at 8 a.m. July 12 at Snohomish park-and-ride (junction of Highway 9 and Bickford Avenue). Short walk on the dike along Ebey Slough. Trip Leader: Art Wait 360-563-0181.
