Paintings at market ask ‘Can You Fly?’

“Can You Fly?” is the title of a solo exhibit of oil paintings by Bellingham artist Lesley Long on view this month at Art Boutique at the Everett Public Market.

Long’s paintings of animals display her keen eye for composition and color, as well as her playful and whimsical side as seen in such paintings as “Party Animals,” which shows grinning dogs wearing party hats. “Dog Times Two” depicts two mutts in the classic Ying and Yang arrangement.

Her paintings are on view through March 29. There’s an artists’ reception 4-8 p.m. March 11.

Also at the gallery this month is a group show titled “A Wonder of Woman” featuring paintings by 14 artists who show regularly at the gallery, on view through April 29. Participating artists include Roxanne Jaross, Ardeth Overbay, Suzanne deCillia, Josey Jensen, Sue Ellen Longwell, Janet Myer, Roxanne Beckman, Tami White, Jessica Bigley, Gail Benefield, John Vistaunet, Joyce Giroux and Lyussy Hyder. New to the gallery is Celia Casper, who does computer-generated art.

Art Boutique is located at 2804 Grand Ave., Everett; 425-501-2448.

Marine art: While you’re checking out the new boats at the Everett Boat Show this weekend, check out the marine art on display in the Everett Events Center.

The Boat Show Gallery will be showing and selling art works by 45 artists, including oil paintings, marine photography, limited-edition prints, American Indian masks, blown glass, fine jewelry, porcelain, wooden utensils, batik linens and ceramics.

The boat show runs today through Sunday at the Everett Events Center; www.everettboatshow.com.

In Langley: “Homage” is the title of a group show opening Saturday at MUSEO Gallery in Langley. The exhibit brings together artists who regularly show in the gallery and new artists who, in selected works, pay homage to the artist who most influenced them.

Visitors will see art that draws from and pays tribute to such world-class artists as Johannes Vermeer, Willlem De Kooning, Mary Cassatt and Mark Tobey. There are paintings, glass and sculpture in the show, which opens with a reception 5-8 p.m. Saturday.

MUSEO Gallery is located at 215 First St.; 306-221-7737.
