Pair of painters show oils and watercolors in Snohomish

Oil painter Roxanne Jaross and watercolor artist Kelly Maier are the featured artists in February at the Arts of Snohomish Gallery in downtown Snohomish.

“Oil &Water”: Works by artists Roxanne Jaross and Kelly Maier, Wednesday through Feb. 28, Arts of Snohomish Gallery, in the Carnegie Building at 105 Cedar Ave., Snohomish; www.artsofsnohomish.org, 360-568-8648.

Alaska artist Bob Patterson: Through Feb. 5, Gretchen’s Cafe Culture, 109 E. Commercial, La Conner; 360-421-0985.

Paintings in this exhibition range from sumptuous scenes of chocolate delights to sensitive nudes and animal portraiture. The show opens Wednesday and runs through Feb. 28. The opening reception is 2-5 p.m. Feb. 4; to add your name to the guest list call 360-568-8648.

Roxanne Jaross’ artwork ranges from small, detailed drawings to large, colorful oil paintings of various subjects including giant floating seashells, garden/plant shapes and patterns, portraits of people and animals and most recently a series on chocolate. The artist lives and works in Everett.

Kelly Maier of Monroe translates her love of animals, gardening and the human form into watercolors.

Arts of Snohomish Gallery is a cooperative fine arts gallery owned and operated by community artists.

At Anabel’s: Abstract and figurative paintings by Doug Gemmell are featured through March 31 at Anabel’s Framing and Gallery in Everett.

Alaska art: Showing at Gretchen’s Cafe Culture in La Conner are works by resident Bob Patterson, who was named artist of the year in 1997 by Northwest Artist magazine. A master of detail, Patterson’s paintings capture “the full magnitude of Alaska, its people, animals and scenery,” the magazine said.

The exhibit runs through Feb. 5.
