Fantasia is the latest star to get her life turned into a reality show. VH1 said Friday that its cameras will begin following the singer for a series that it hopes to premiere early next year.
Fantasia was the third-season winner of “American Idol” in 2004. The 24-year-old single mother has written an autobiography called “Life is Not a Fairy Tale” and starred in a TV movie about herself.
VH1 says the series will show how she deals with life and, as the network put it, the seismic aftershocks of fame.
Fantasia performed in the Broadway production of “The Color Purple” in 2007 and is now recording her third album.
A judge is giving the son of Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal one last chance to kick his drug habit.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Millington on Friday transferred two felony drug cases against Redmond O’Neal to a court that could send him to a stringent rehab program. But he sternly warned the 24-year-old that he if he fails at rehab — as he has at least three times before — he’s going to prison.
“Understand if I see you in that seat again, it’s not going to be pretty,” Millington told a somber-looking O’Neal.
Last week, O’Neal acknowledged a probation violation to a 2008 drug conviction and was in court Friday for sentencing. The actor has two other drug cases, including one filed after his recent arrest.
O’Neal and his father were arrested in September at the actor’s Malibu home when deputies performing a probation sweep say they found methamphetamine at the house. Ryan O’Neal is in an 18-month drug diversion program after pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge.
Redmond O’Neal on Friday changed his plea in that case and pleaded no contest to a felony drug charge. Millington sent the matter to a drug court for sentencing April 30.
The founder of the Guardian Angels wants to show off New York’s underbelly, but tourism officials are suggesting a trip to the zoo. Community leaders in the Bronx are objecting to a new “Underbelly Tour” by Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa. The tour focuses on both the tumultuous 1970s and lingering crime problems in the borough.
The Bronx Tourism Council said it’s disappointed that Sliwa’s tour capitalizes on false stereotypes. It recommended visitors instead go to the Bronx Zoo, New York Botanical Garden, Yankee Stadium, museums and restaurants.
