Four solo pianists from across the country will gather for a concert Sunday in Bellingham, including activist Louis Landon, who plays his music to support peace.
The other pianists are Joe Bongiorno, Jon Mutchler and Joe Yamada.
The concert is at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bellingham’s Firehouse Performing Arts Center, 1314 Harris Ave. Tickets are $15 by calling 800-838-3006.
With this concert, Landon, 56, is making his first solo appearance in Washington state. In the late 1970s, he toured with John Hall of the band Orleans, opening for Little Feat.
Landon has appeared in the No Nukes concerts at Madison Square Garden and in 1980 he appeared in the film and album titled “No Nukes.” He’s also toured internationally as the keyboardist for Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Landon’s activism is still alive. On June 2, he began recording and posting Improvs for Peace to Myspace, which he intends to continue doing every single day until the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan end. Improvs for Peace support Landon’s fervent notion that music can bring peace to the world.
His seventh CD, and second solo piano release, “Peace Revolution,” launched earlier this year, receiving radio promotion worldwide.
