Village Theatre’s Pied Piper 2005-2006 season of children’s shows in Everett will include five shows at the Everett Performing Arts Center and the Everett Civic Auditorium.
The performances, which include music, dance and drama, are selected for their entertainment and education value. Geared toward elementary students, the shows are adapted from classic children’s books and are presented by some of the top children’s theater groups in the country.

“The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fair(l)y (stoopid) Tales,” Oct. 30. Classic children’s fairy tales are given a zany twist; adapted from the book “The Stinky Cheese Man” by Jon Scieszka and produced by Dallas Children’s Theater On Tour.
“The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favourites,” Nov. 6. With their signature larger-than-life puppets illuminated by black lights, Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia presents favorite Eric Carle stories that follow the adventures of a very tiny and very hungry caterpillar as he eats his way through an amazing variety of foods and plants. The story is told with larger-than-life puppets illuminated by black lights.
“The Elves and the Shoemaker,” Dec. 10. A favorite from past Pied Piper seasons returns for the holidays, a production of California Theatre Center. Two merry elves arrive at a small village in the Black Forest to discover a poor, gentle shoemaker who clearly needs assistance.
“Color Me Dark: A Story of the Great Migration North,” Feb. 5. The great migration of black Americans from the deep South to Midwest in the 1920s, and they struggles they face, is viewed through the lives of two sisters. A Kennedy Center presentation.
“Charlotte’s Web,” May 21. This Theatreworks-USA production is based on E.B. White’s story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. The treasured tale, which includes a cast of endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.
Among the productions planned for Village Theatre’s Pied Piper season are a return of the favorite “The Elves and the Shoemaker.”
