“Laura”: Mark McPherson can’t help himself. Laura is too tantalizing. He falls in love.
Unfortunately, Laura, the beautiful advertising executive, is also dead. Shot in the face and left on the floor of her apartment.
McPherson knows better than to get personally involved in a murder investigation and he learns that lesson all too well in this thrilling whodunit, “Laura” by Vera Caspary.
This show by Red Curtain Productions opens Jan. 25 at Historic Everett Theatre.
While doing a thorough investigation, McPherson pours over her portraits, letters and personal items and talks to suspects — in particular the three men who loved her — and creates the perfect woman in his mind.
Now he’s hooked.
When Laura actually reappears, McPherson’s world is turned upside down.
Now, he must hurry to find the murderer and along the way indulges in a wild ride of mystery and thrills.
The play was made into a film noir-style movie in 1944 directed by Otto Preminger.
The local community theater cast includes Kendal Bogan, Anderson Shaw, Justin Tinsley and Vanessa Langston.
“Laura” opens at 8 p.m. Jan. 25 at Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Feb. 10.
