The ballet world is buzzing about more than Natalie Portman’s portrayal of a ballerina in the recent movie thriller, “Black Swan.”
It seems that the Pacific Northwest Ballet will premiere a new staging of the classic “Giselle” in June. It will be the first time an American company has used a 19th century guide to choreography and staging called the Stepanov notation.
This weekend PNB Artistic Director Peter Boal, other dance experts and the principal dancers will travel to New York City to give a special preview of the premier at the prestigious “Works & Process” lecture series at the Guggenheim Museum.
The program is scheduled to be broadcast over the Internet. It should be a great opportunity to get a glimpse of what’s to come and listen to a fascinating discussion.
