If you’re a budding writer you might also be a starving one, so best to register now to save money and get some feedback on your manuscript or screenplay at the 24th annual Write on the Sound Writers Conference planned for Oct. 2 to 4 in Edmonds.
Known as one of the premier writing conferences in the Pacific Northwest, Write on the Sound is an affordable way for writers of all levels to increase their knowledge of the craft, learn about a new genre or explore an aspect of the writing business. It’s also limited in size which makes it an intimate setting to share ideas and network.
The conference offers 30 workshops and one-on-one manuscript critique sessions. There’s also an on-site bookstore and a public reception at the end for book signing.
Brian McDonald, an award-winning filmmaker, is this year’s keynote speaker. He has worked in the film and comic book industry for more than 20 years. “White Face,” his award-winning short film, ran on HBO and Cinemax and is used by corporations nationwide as a diversity training tool.
Saturday and Sunday workshops take place at the Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds. If you register before Sept. 16, the cost is $112 for two days. After Sept. 16 the cost rises to $137.
