Claire Dederer, a nationally known freelance writer who lives on Bainbridge Island, will talk about her book, “Poser: My Life in Twenty-Three Yoga Poses,” from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Third Place Books.
Rather than being a book about discovering yoga, it’s more about how yoga helped Dederer discover herself.
“Poser” lists at $26. Dederer also will be signing books.
“The Running Dream” by Wendelin Van Draanen is a story for young readers about overcoming adversity and reaching for the stars. It tells the story of a young runner who loses a leg in a car accident. While she is coping with the idea of a prosthetic leg she meets a young woman with cerebral palsy who inspires her.
Van Draanen will read from sign her book ($16.99) from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Third Place Books.
Photographer Jerry Gay will talk about his travels across the country, covering more than 500,000 miles, which he chronicles in his book, “Seeing Reality: Humanity, Humility and Humor,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Third Place Books.
Gay describes his journeys along the byways and backroads as life-changing. The presentation includes a slide show.
