Round up your posse and enjoy an evening with Mary Lou Sanelli as she reads from her new book, “Among Friends: A Memoir,” from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at BookWorks in Marysville.
The writer, who lives in Seattle and grew up in Port Townsend, is an inspirational speaker and reads from her works on KSER radio.

Tea and “Tree”: Meet Oregon author Naseem Rakha over dessert and tea at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Third Place Books. After the reception, Rakha will read from and talk about “The Crying Tree,” her novel of the revenge that twists a family for years after a son is murdered, and the powerful effect of forgiveness.

Hot stuff: J.A. Jance unites two of her leading series characters, J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady, in “Fire and Ice,” described as her most shocking and suspenseful book yet. Jance will read from “Fire and Ice” at 1 p.m. Thursday at Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
Seattle detective Beaumont winds up in Sheriff Brady’s Arizona territory while investigating a series of horrific murders.
