KTCS Television presents its 20th live viewer cooking special, “KCTS Cooks: ‘S’ Is for Salads,” at 11 a.m. Nov. 6.
The popular series features live viewer cooking specials submitted by KCTS viewers. This series features 13 viewers demonstrating their favorite recipes for dishes including “Potatoes Cougar” to coconut angel pie.
The latest in the “KCTS Cooks: Favorite Recipes” series is hosted by KCTS’ George Ray and chef Brian Poor, a local culinary expert and restaurant consultant. Paula Nemzek, who has served as co-producer of the successful cooking specials since their inception in 1996, will appear in live pledge breaks, sharing background information on the featured recipes and viewer, and offering sneak peeks at recipes that will be included in the companion cookbook.
The “KCTS Cooks: Favorite Recipes” cookbook will include all of the recipes featured in the special, plus more than 250 additional recipes contributed by viewers in Washington state and Canada. The cookbook will be offered as a pledge premium during broadcasts of the program.
In addition to live viewer cooking demonstrations, the program will feature recipe demonstrations pre-taped at three area eateries.
The show will be aired again at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Five weeks to change
With the nation’s increasing problem with obesity, making healthful meals has become more challenging for busy moms.

* Week two – Add one extra vegetable serving each day.
* Week three – Add one healthy beverage a day.
* Week four – Include one healthy snack each day.
* Week five – Serve one extra high-fiber grain food each day.
