Flix pix: Want almost-free DVDs sent directly to your house? Want to get rid of some old ones cluttering up your entertainment center shelf? Join PeerFlix (www.peerflix.com).
It works like this: After you sign up and agree to all the fine print, you post movies on your “I Want to See” list and on your “I Own” list in an online account, and Peerflix matches up buyers and sellers.
Movies trade for 99 cents a disc plus postage. If someone wants one of your movies or offers a movie to you, you will receive an e-mail alert. You have 24 hours to respond by going online and proceeding with the process.
You send the discs only; not the jewel boxes. You print a handy paper mailer with the recipient’s name, address and postage on it, which you fold, tape and drop in the mail.
Peerflix handles the transactions via your credit card. Movies will be credited and debited in your online account. You can also “the buy it now” when you are perusing the movies for sale at the posted price, usually under 5 bucks.
There’s a community forum with other movie fanatics if you’re so inclined.
Check it out at www.peerflix.com.
