Calling all canines: You know the dog days of summer have arrived when Marysville holds its Poochapalooza.
Now in its third year, the free event lets pet owners pit their pooches against one another in a dozen friendly contests — best costume, wackiest trick, highest jumper — and shop at more than 30 canine-related vendors. Organizers expect as many as 1,500 people to attend the event, which concludes with a parade of dogs.
Poochapalooza lasts from 10 a.m. to about 3 p.m. today at Asbery Field, Totem Middle School, 1605 7th St. NE, Marysville. For a full schedule of events, visit poochapalooza.org. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to support leash-free dog parks.
