Key Club wins volunteer of year
The Lake Stevens High School Key Club last month received Volunteer of the Year Award from Sherwood Community Services.
Club members were honored for their work in the Tech Step program, where they volunteered more than 100 hours to help develop adapted books for children and adults with disabilities, said Alisa Arcos, the school’s Key Club adviser.
Sherwood Community Services is a Lake Stevens-based nonprofit organization that serves people with disabilities throughout Snohomish County.
About 10 students participated in the project, and the club plans to continue working with the program.
“It has been a very rewarding experience for these students, and we are thankful to Sherwood for honoring us in this way and for giving us the opportunity to work with them,” Arcos said.
