Scuttlebutt Brewing Co.’s tap is far from dry.
The Brewers Association, a Colorado-based trade organization, ranked the Everett spot as the sixth most successful brewpub in the nation based on total beer sales.
Brewpubs are classified as craft breweries with restaurants that consume 25 percent of their beer on site. Scuttlebutt won its laurels in June for selling more than 3,900 barrels of beer in 2008. That comes to 121,000 gallons, enough to cater about 4,000 weddings, according to Scuttlebutt.
Washington fared well on the whole in the nationwide rankings, which reviewed 928 brewpubs. Bellingham’s Boundary Bay Brewery and Seattle’s Elysian Brewing Co. landed ahead of Scuttlebutt at Nos. 1 and 3, respectively.
Scuttlebutt, 1524 W. Marine View Drive, was founded in 1995. Today, it serves 15 styles of beer and has some killer fish and chips.
