The more I see of Mike Holmgren’s change in offensive philosophy, the more I like it. As he said a couple of weeks ago, he’s returning to his roots and it’s paying off with two straight impressive wins.
The offense is in great hands with Matt Hasselbeck. His receivers are getting healthy again, and just in time. Mo Morris adds a very good change of pace. I like the way he hits the holes and runs hard. The question is what will happen once Shaun Alexander returns from his knee sprain.
Can he adjust from being The Man to The Second Option? He’s dropped a lot of balls this season because of his cracked wrist, but he’s shown in the past that he’s capable of catching passes. I’m just wondering whether he’ll continue his struggles. My suspicion is that he’s reached the point that all great running backs do. He’s taken a ton of punishment over the years. I simply don’t see the same explosiveness or quickness that I saw even two years ago. We’ll see.
I’ll feel even better about this team once they start airing it out effectively on the road. This team hasn’t been impressive on the road. They need to be better to make any statement in the playoffs.
The Rams may be a decent test. The done is always loud and the Rams are playing better. This won’t be an easy game.
