The Seattle Men’s Chorus is stripping down.

The men won’t use pianos or any other instruments. Just the raw power of their 200 voices.

They have been practicing for 30 years and are ready to sing a completely a cappella concert during their Seattle Men’s Chorus “Gets Unplugged” shows. The chorus will be joined by the a cappella sextet known as m-pact.

The repertoire for “Unplugged” will cover lots of musical ground, including African anthems and barbershop. Songs will include hits from Sondheim and Schubert and beautiful blends of Mendelssohn and Montoya.

The Los Angeles-based m-pact, hailed as one of the best pop-jazz vocal groups in the world by the San Francisco Chronicle, is sure to make a perfect pairing of these two vocal ensembles.

“Unplugged” opens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at McIntyre Hall, 2501 E. College Way. Mount Vernon. Tickets are $25 by calling 360-416-7727, ext. 2, or 866-624-6897, ext. 2, or going to www.mcintyrehall.org.

Show times also are at 8 p.m. June 19 and 20 and 2 p.m. June 21 at Meany Theater, 4001 University Way NE, Seattle. Tickets range from $20 to $55. Call 206-388-1400 or go to www.flyinghouse.org.
