Mountlake Terrace may be a small city, but it hosts a big art show.
The 38th annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show is exhibited Sept. 24 through Oct. 9 at the library.
Sponsored by the Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission and the Friends of the Arts, this year’s show attracted nearly 150 artists from throughout the state, British Columbia and even from Arkansas. The artists submitted more than 430 works of art. Of those, 300 are displayed, said show director Judy Ryan.
A patrons’ preview and artists’ awards ceremony is tonight at the library. The show opens to the public on Saturday.
This year’s jurors include Pam Ingalls, who judged paintings, prints, drawings and miniatures; Larey McDaniel, who judged photography; Lance Dooley, who judged three-dimensional and artisans’ works; and Sally Penley, who judged calligraphy.
More than $4,000 in cash prizes are awarded.
The quality and caliber of art submissions continues to grow, Ryan said.
