Have you been up to see the tulips yet?
With such an early spring, they bloomed early. Farmers have already started topping some tulips. (Topping means clipping off the faded blooms.) But plenty of fields still have color and the farmers’ display gardens will be kept up as long as possibly.
The weather for this weekend is questionable, at least at last look. If you’re willing to brave the rain, though, you’re likely to find smaller crowds. Bring an umbrella and some rain boots and you’ll be just fine.
Our reporter Gale Fiege, who lives near the tulips and knows what she’s talking about, wrote this story about visiting the tulips. She has lots of suggestions for planning your trip. Remember that there are a number of art shows going on, too. And those are, conveniently, inside.
In the meantime, watch this cool video of the tulip fields taken with a drone. It’s mesmerizing.
And if you need more tulips, check out our photo gallery.
