50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Arland Wallin was a new sixth-grade teacher at Jackson School. Emerson School had two new teachers, Patricia Heeb for third grade and Junie Moore for second grade. Today was the first day of school.
Final plans for the Fall Flattery Fashion Show were made at the first fall meeting of Evergreen Town Club at the Alpine Cafeteria. Hostesses were Vivian Solie, Evelyn Tollefson and Margaret North.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Fifteen Edmonds-area youths competed in the Olympic trials and five won spots on the U.S. team that dominated the summer games in Los Angeles, said Mayor Larry Naughten. Those five were Steve Erickson, John Stillings, Susan Broome, Alan Forney and Robert Shannon.
Movies playing at the General Cinemas Everett Mall 1-10 were “Tightrope,” “Ghostbusters,” “Purple Rain,” “Indiana Jones &the Temple of Doom,” “Dreamscape,” “Revenge of the Nerds,” “The Natural,” “Karate Kid,” “Red Dawn” and “Gremlins.”
