50 YEARS AGO (1959)
Lifeguard Gail Johanson was credited with saving a man’s life at City Beach by Everett Police Capt. Frank Paterson. She rescued and revived a man who panicked in deep water and nearly drowned. The crew also was credited, having the resuscitator unit ready on the beach.
Al Schutter and Dick Lynn, co-owners of W.W. Wells Millwork here, examined some of the work done in their factory and discussed plans for future development. The Wells company made anything and everything in custom woodworking.
25 YEARS AGO (1984)
Goodwill Industries, which had operated a thrift store in Everett for the past 51 years, was expanding to a new location at 3002 Hoyt Ave., offering an enlarged store and a new vocational training program. Goodwill closed its existing store at 2726 Lombard Ave. the previous week.
The North Cascade Fuchsia society was sponsoring its first Fuchsia Show and Display this weekend at Everett Mall. There would be a judged show, a plant sale, blossom table, fuchsia lore and educational tables as well as displays.
